Anyone else reloading for this? http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/roysclockgun/?action=view¤t=257RobtType38.jpg I got a good buy on this rifle at a gun show a while back. The seller sold it as a 257Roberts chambered rifle, but the barrel looked too much like the original Arisaka 6.5mm bore. The box of 257Roberts ammo that went with the rifle had one round missing. My guess is that the previous owner, not knowing what he had, chambered and fired a 257Roberts cartridge and then figured that the bore was shot out. Of course, some post WWII gunsmith had reamed the chamber out to accept 257Roberts brass and then opened up 257Roberts brass to accept 6.5mm bullets. Not having that die, but having 257Roberts dies, I used a 6.5mm expending button in the 257Roberts resizing die and Viola, ended up with 6.5-257Roberts brass. I can also form the same brass by necking down 7x57mm Mauser brass. All brass has to be trimmed after resizing. Some of the resized brass has now been fired four times and it still is showing no signs of failure. The rifle does not group in any sort of world class manner, but when I experimented and found a loading that the rifle likes, I can put all my bullets into a 2 1/2" circle at 100 yards. So, the rifle could be a fine deer rifle. I have too many rifles and doubt that I will ever take it hunting, but it is fun to use to flail away at the range.
