Posts: 46 Jan 19 06 2:19 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None I just bought this fine rifle today. It'd not in mint condishion, but, I can say that it was made in 30 06, not a conversion. It's stamped on the reviver that it is 30 06. Also it was manufactured in Berlin. I don't know if all Argentino 1909 mousers were manufactured in berlin or if they were made in argentino. I haven't done much resuch on them and any information you have will be Greatly appreciated. I will take pictures of this beauty and post them later on as an update. It's blueing I guess is about.....60-75%. I'll probably get it reblued in the next year or so. I spent $267.52 on it. I believe that's a good price for a German made firearm considering Kar* 98s do cost more. So you guys, I am forgine to Mousers, I have almost bought them a few times in the past but haven't. So this is my first Mouser.

I also plan after I Do find a stock for it having it Re-Blued to get it back to What it was. I can't do much about the bent down bolt I guess I'll just have to live with that Modification. so I guess I'll probably wind up investing about 150 more into the rifle.

Posts: 29 Jan 21 06 10:43 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	You will need to slug the bore to see whether it is .308 or .312. Original bore was .312 for the 7.65 x 53mm. I have heard that they just rechambered some of them. If it has been rebarreled it may have an 03 barrel. Rad NRA Life Member American Motorcyclist Assoc Life Member

Posts: 46 Jan 21 06 12:14 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Well, My gun Does have the barrel Germany sent over to Argentine with it. It has the Iron Cross stammped on the underside of it. So I immagine it was Made in 30 06 or Rebarreled. Because it has stammped on the Barrel/chamber 30 06. I Don't have a good enough camera to Show you.

It was marked so you would not put a 53mm length cartridge in a 62mm length chamber. It would a very dangerous situation if you did. I would definetly slug the barrel. Posts: 42 Mar 2 06 6:28 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Last week I bought the twin to that rifle at a pawn/gun shop.It's all matching and stamped "cal 30-06" on the left side of the barrel.The rear sight is graduated to 2000 yards but it has a 24" barrel so it is a cut down long rifle.The bore is shiny and the rifle shoots great. Stan The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa. The LT-2 sight adjuster.Have you adjusted today? There is honor in doing battle with a worthy adversary but counting coup on a cripple adds no feathers to my war bonnet. Enfields...anything else is just a rifle.

Posts: 15 Jun 2 06 12:03 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	When the Argentines unloaded their surplus M1909s some unscruplous dealers re-cut the chambers to 30-06 which ruined the rifles. The American Rifleman reported tumbling bullets and complete misses on targets. The FTC took Monkey Ward to court for false advertising. Barrel can't be set back enough to rechamber for 7.65 and no reamers or dies exist for 7.65X63. Also magazine is too short for the '06. No easy answer for these things, especially since they are one of the finest rifles ever produced and the 7.65 is better than or equal to the .308. Back in the '30s Winchester even chambered the M70 for it, and the lead shooter of the U.S. international service team afixed a set of '03 sights on a '09 Argie and out shot his best record although it couldn't be officialy used in the matchs.
