fine military rifles.
Written by Joe Poyer and edited by Craig Riesch, the book covers the Vetterli rifle and
carbines models of 1869, 1871, 1879 and 1881 and the Schmidt rifles and carbines of 1889, 1911
and the K-31, and their variations.
Like all books in North Cape Publications' "For Collectors Only" series, a short history
of the development and use of the rifles is followed by an extensive analysis of the various
models on a part-by-part basis. All markings, codes, finishes and other identifying features of
each part are described and related to a model or serial number range.
Also included are details of the ammunition used in these rifles and carbines and their
development. An exploded view of both rifles was developed for this book. Chapters and
Appendices cover the Swiss Sniper rifle models, the complete disassembly/assembly of both
rifles, maintenance, cleaning and trouble shooting.
