method of converting GP11 brass to take Boxer primers. The tools I used are an RCBS primer pocket swager, a stout loading press, a drill, a spare shellholder,

In order to remove the rear sight leaf from a K31 or S-R (or any military rifle with a tangent sight, like M98 Mausers), you have to compress a fairly hefty spring and align the holes for the pivot pin, get the pin started and drive it in or out. Five hands would be helpful.

I have found the pictured tool to be helpful for such operations. I was wondering what techniques/processes one might use on new, virgin brass, to get it ready to load. Here are some of my thoughts, and I'd appreciate any/all advice.
1.
I am going to take my K31 deer hunting here in Colorado next month. I cooked up a load that should work fine, but then I ran into a snag. The K31 magazine holds six rounds, and in Colorado, the magazine must not be able to hold more than five rounds. Just loading five does not count if more can be fit in. Does anyone know how to modify a magazine to block out that sixth round without altering the mag permanently? I thought about epoxying in a fired case to the follower, which then could be...

While it worked perfectly, it has only enough elevation for about 300 yards on this rifle with this front sight (which is about as low as I can get it). I have been meaning to try a PNW for quite some time now, so I had my excuse.

Digression: while I had the rifle out of the stock this time, I noticed that the hole for the rear bedding screw (tang screw) was crudely drilled and was definitely not...

I just read a very old article from Townsend Whelen about cleaning bores with corrosive ammo. He basically talks about using a good bore solvent like Hoppes #9. He goes on to say that to keep the bore from being dirty and only having to swab with a greasy patch once in a while, the shooter should use a greased bullet. He goes on to say that there is very little dirt or copper in the bore with greased bullets. I think he may have picked up that idea from the Swiss.

<div...
